Firstly, I just want to pre-empt this post with the usual about how you need to be a 7 time cutting edge lord of the Gladiator. I’m not. What I am is a pretty casual player that has raided mythic, usually failing to defeat the last 2 bosses. That’s not my fault, it’s everyone else’s of course. On a serious note I’ve done a fair bit of Mythic + and I always seen low keys as a way to test strategy and ESPECIALLY, if it was your key, there was an understanding it was yours to do with what you want.
Now that we’ve got that out the way. Mythic + is Blizzards answer to infinitely repeatable content, namely through their Dungeon system. You get a keystone, head to the dungeon and do that content, the keystones go up in levels the better you do, to the point where the higher you go, the better rewards you get, the harder it is. Etc.
The Problem
It’s always public lobbies. You know that is where this is going. I came back and since I used to do a lot of dungeons in Shadowlands I’d run a +2 just to get my bearings.
Queue probably the worst Brackenhide Hollow run you’ve ever seen in life. We wiped around 6 times, the mobs bugged and kept chasing us back to the graveyard camping us, trying to kill them ended in “EVADE” spam and low and behold we and I especially sucked. I was way over in Mob% and overall it wasn’t a great experience, thankfully I was surprised it even held together.
What happened at the end of that dungeon speaks volumes. The DPS told me to not do dungeons unless I’ve watched youtube videos on how to do them, I know the routes, and I know what I’m meant to pull and when.
It seems the action of “TRYING” something has gone out the window. Why play the game when you can just watch someone else do it and copy it exactly?
So, what did I do? Of course I went and watched the video, this time of The Nokhud Offensive. I got Mythic Dungeon Tools, I grabbed the most popular Raider IO route on there with an optimized path, I watched a video of a guy going over it. Queue my team to constantly spam different packs to pull, tell me to do their route and again, that I wasn’t doing it right and “my route sucked theirs is better”
Remember. I’m the Tank. It’s meant to be that you follow the tank and do what they do. The problem is the game has changed this seemingly in the last expansion so that Mythic + score is what determines who is the party leader, with the introduction of pings in-game it now means people are spamming pings about alternative packs and who the real leader is.
It was a shit show.
My conclusion is this. You cannot seem to do anything right in this game, and it’s just sad. It’s just really sad that people either can’t give others the time to learn and play the game, or if they do you’ll shout them down and tell them to follow what you’re doing anyway, before you never see them again. Meaning everything you just taught them is entirely useless as the next guy comes along and rages.
This is probably getting neglected because the majority I guess are in guilds doing them in there!
Sigh.
